When ran at the settings my PC should support (i.e, max settings), it would often freeze during a 1v1 skirmish with the CPU. If I set the graphics ridicuously low it would stop crashing. Campaign scenarios would freeze when started after loading. In both instances my monitor would go black for a second, and then KDE would inform me that it had restarted the compositor due to the graphics restarting (or something like that).
Games is fun, when it isn't slogging mysteriously.
On the first few play sessions it had a consistent 60 fps, but recently it has begun to slow down to sub 30 fps at times, which is totally incongruent with my hardware.
When I reinstall it the FPS is fixed for the first play session or few, but then it is ruined on the second one I believe. Another reporter mention the pre-caching causing slowness.
Downgrade your linux kernel to a 6.3.x version until the bug in regards to AMD GPUs are fixed. This is a warning for all games.
This is an update to my previous report. Due to an issue in the 6.4.x versions of the Linux kernels, AMD GPUs are often restricted in their performance which can cause significant FPS drops throughout the entire play session. Initially I assumed this was an EDF 5 only problem, as it was the only game where I had FPS drop by half (60 to ~25-30). However after playing around in Baldur's Gate 3, it seems to be a wider issue. For my system personally it only occurs some time after my PC has started, but it will eventually occur and cause me to restart it. The best course of action is just to downgrade to a 6.3.x version of the kernel until it the bug is fixed.
I've played co-op and we had no issues a part from some interesting translations of the UI that made it confusing in regards to how to actually start the match.
