The game is native! But, the installer is for Ubuntu 14, and I will not be suprised if it stops working.
The installer installs libsdl2-2.0-0, libsdl2-net-2.0-0, libsdl2-mixer-2.0-0. If the game does not work natively, try installing similar libraries. Many distros and maybe even newer Ubuntu has different naming.
