Just needed to change to Proton 5.13.6. No other tweaks were necessary which is great for gamers not keen on tinkering too much.
Customizations:
At first the game didn't want to run out of the box. I'd get through the main menu and select a Server, but the game would freeze either on Server loading screen of on the actual gameplay loading screen. Followed the advice from here, switched to Proton version 5.13.6. and have been able to play the game without issues. No freezing and no issues with audio either.

Anti-Cheat:Battl Eye
I am actually not sure if they still use this Anti-cheat. I know they did in the past but the community complained about it a lot.
