Renamed the intro files "DemoIntro.bik", "UBI_LOGO.bik", "Ubisoft_Presents.bik" and "Warning_Disclaimer.bik" in the "Videos" folder in the games installation folder to force the game to load straight into the main menu, skipping the intro and logo screens. This is not necessary but is a great quality of life improvement.
Ubisoft setup window might appear on first launch.
Audio can start crackling if game is resumed after device is woken from sleep while its still running.
Two issues with the default input with the Steam deck that can be fixed with the following methods:
The game will not recognise ANY controller input at the main menu before a profile is selected, and trying to get to profile selection with the onscreen keyboard is buggy as the game keeps hiding it. To get around this, I bound L4 to the "Enter" key which allows me to get to profile selection.
The default controller support in the game is not configured correctly (bumpers and triggers swapped, icons dont appear, can't be remapped) and requires a couple of external files to be placed into the games install location to allow full controller support. These files can be found by just googling "Assassins Creed 1 Xbox one controller fix" and going to the "PCGamingWiki" link. Download the .zip on that page, extract the two files into the games install directory, and you're good to go. Remember to change the input method in the main menu to "Xbox controller"
As long as you can make the adjustments I did, you will have 0 issues with this game.
I swapped the names of the two executable files "Launcher.exe" and "BorderlandsGOTY.exe".
This is due to the warning that appears when launching the game after a clean install that states the system does not meet minimum requirements. Renaming the main game executable file (BorderlandsGOTY) to the launcher file (Launcher) means that it will bypass the game launcher and go straight into the game.
Issue with launcher displaying "Game does not meet minimum requirements"
