Demo never gets past loading screen after starting new game
I tried starting a new game multiple times, but to no avail. No errors are logged in the system journal. The game doesn't freeze, but it seems to be stuck on something - I let it set for over five minutes, but this did not help.
Endless loading screen when starting new game due to loading video failing
Tried to start the demo multiple times, but the loading screen never proceeds to the game. The Unity logs shows errors related to media/video decoding.
Proton-6.16-GE-1 GloriousEggroll
Using the Glorious Eggroll version of Proton was required (Experimental nor 6.3-6 worked at the time of writing).
Resolution resets itself to 1080p on a 1440p screen every time the game starts when in fullscreen or borderless fullscreen mode. A few clicks in the menu fixes it, but it quickly becomes tedious.
Stutters occur occasionally as spells or effects are performed, but only the first time.
Voice acting lines sometimes do not start playing, which may be a game bug or a Proton bug. It seems to occur at random.
Playable and enjoyable, only minor issues on Linux (most prominent issues are not exclusive or due to Proton)
Mouse clicks seem to be ignored sometimes, but I've read Reddit posts about users also encountering this on Windows.
Frame rates fluctuate a lot (drops from 120 FPS to 70 FPS in some areas are not uncommon) - but this may also happen on Windows.
Intro logos do not show and are automatically skipped (good riddance, though, but mentioning it for correctness' sake), menu loading times when starting up are higher than on Windows (on Windows one or two seconds, on Linux five to ten seconds).
Only base game has Linux port, Enhanced Edition does not and is borked in Proton
The Steam store page shows Linux support, but only the base (original) game has a Linux port, the enhanced edition, which is included in the package, does not, which is fairly misleading.
To make matters worse, the enhanced edition doesn't even start in Proton but immediately crashes. No workarounds appear known so far. I refunded the game as I do not wish to play the original due to FOV issues on ultra-wide monitors.
Crashes every half hour or so (ERR_GFX_STATE) make the game practically unplayable due to checkpoint system resetting progress.
Had to put it on low to get somewhat decent FPS around 60, which seems subpar compared to the experience of others.
Had to play the prologue several times because there is a checkpoint system, you cannot save, and the ERR_GFX_STATE error keeps occuring with the Vulkan renderer (the Direct12 renderer didn't work for me).
Intro video does not display anything and only has audio, breaking immersion
If the game is set to fullscreen instead of windowed fullscreen, it selects the wrong resolution (2560xY instead of 3440xY). AFAIK, both behave the same in Wine, so it's not blocking.
The intro video when you start a new game, as well as other videos, only play audio, but show no visuals. I had to look them up on YouTube.
