Multiplayer does not work. "Check your network settings" when attempting to host.
As the previous reviewer mentions:
Use Proton Experimental and at
/.steam/steam/steamapps/common/Age of Wonders Planetfall/
(or wherever your steam install is located)
- rename dowser.exe into something else
- rename AoWFP.exe into dowser.exe (I didn't need to keep a file called AoWFP.exe)
in order to bypass the Paradox Launcher (which doesn't work well) and launch the game immediately when Play is hit in Steam
Multiplayer only worked for one turn last time I tried (prior report), participating in MP games (PBEM) seems to work perpetually now, knock on wood. (There may be issues with hosting a new game, haven't tried)
It works well with Proton Experimental Bleeding edge (activation is detailed in a recent review) once it starts successfully
The game starts successfully about one time in four, the rest of the time there's a small game window and then nothing
It started to a black screen with GE 7.5 or just the small game window and then nothing, it never launched ok. It launches ok sometimes with Experimental bleeding edge but never quits okay from in game, it has to be stopped in Steam as well. Steam overlay does not work (including no fps counter)
Game launches to black screen and mouse pointer if Esync isn't disabled in Proton's user_settings.py.
If it is disabled then the game launches normally and everything appears to work- sound, graphics, saving, quitting, starting again and continuing.
