It used to work with non-EAC servers where you could join servers via console after the game starts up. That's no longer the case as the game crashes during startup before entering the console is possible.

On Linux you can play deadlock servers which has EAC disabled. Unfortunately does not work from steam deck. Game crashes just before loading in.
