i had to deactivate rockstar cloud saves to make the game work
The game wouldnt boot to the menu because i had rockstar games cloud saves on, tried every solution and commands listed here on the page and it didnt work. once i deactivated rockstar cloud saves, the game ran normally, just without my saves
The game finally started working again after i changed to proton 10 after some months without playing the game at all because for some reason it kept freezing and crashing on the screen before the menu, right before the social club pop up (social club and rockstar games launcher might be the cause)
as everyone says here, find a non eac server. usually searching for "linux" in the server search helps
16 gigabytes of ram isnt enough for rust in 2025 even if you limit the ram usage on the initialization parameters. the solution? make a swap partition to "download more ram"
If you think the standard dosbox emulation looks horrible. you can use Luxtorpeda to make the game look better and use the raze sourceport
if you want to use Luxtorpeda, use the ProtonUp-qt application and change the proton version to Luxtorpeda and thats it, the game looks 100 times better now
