Tinker Steps:Custom Proton: GE-Proton9-26, Set launch options
gamescope -W 3440 -H 1440 -r 175 -f --force-grab-cursor
Installing and forcing the use of GE-Proton9-26 instead of Steam's defaults fixed the black screen issues with the cat meowing on the background.
