If you get a pirated version, the game works with PYTHONIOENCODING=utf-8 and DXVK_STATE_CACHE=0. It still crashes regularly (about once every couple hours), but is otherwise completely playable. I haven't had any performance issue. You can replace the steam version with the pirated files and launch the game with steam, but you'll lose other features like cloud saves unfortunately.
The game runs perfectly with the launch options PYTHONIOENCODING=utf-8 and DXVK_STATE_CACHE=0, after disabling the Uplay overlay. Performance is good, Uplay integration works, and no crashes so far.
The game runs out of the box with proton (added as an external program, DX11 executable), without bugs or crashes. Performance is really bad though, I have to set the quality to low to reach 60fps.
Despite a few issues, the game is playable and enjoyable.
Some artifacts indoors, mostly around sam's face.
Performance isn't very good, (~60fps at medium) with some big dips occasionally.
2 crashes in 15 hours, autosaves are frequent enough that it wasn't a big issue.
Performance isn't great: 40-50fps at 1440p medium, with some frame dips. There are also some small physics bugs, but they don't really affect gameplay.
Works great. Performance is very good, over 60fps at 1440p with all settings maxed out.
Works great. Performance is good.
Crashed about 4 times in 18 hours
Works well enough
Slowdowns at some points during cutscenes, otherwise performance is as expected.
The info videos in the skill tree don't work, everything else is good so far.

Working perfectly so far (finished the tutorial) with the latest version of Proton GE: https://github.com/GloriousEggroll/proton-ge-custom
It's very simple to install, you just have to download and uncompress a file.
Lots of tinkering is required to get the game working, and as far as I can tell you can't finish it.
Black screen at the beginning of chapter 3. I can hear ambient sound, but no picture.
The game was running pretty well with proton GE and esync disabled.
