Works great OOTB.
Works great with both XBOX controller and Logitech G27 wheel. For the G27, used the Oversteer application that works fine and the game recognized the wheel immidiately.
Launcher shows up normally and clicking play will fire up the game's executable. No problems experienced using default settings.
The first couple of months the game was completely borked, at least for my system. Now I completed both games of the collection without an issue. No missing textures, no crashes, no weird slowdowns... nothing. The transition was kinda unexpected. Also the performance was really good, averaging 100+ fps on 1440p.
Tried every combination of options. No luch with either GE, 7.0-4 or Experimental.

Something must have borked it in the first couple patches.
No fiddling needed, even the 3-day early version worked out of the box with Proton 8.0-4
Everything worked out of the box, including online play. I cannot compare the performance with Windows since I do not dual-boon on this machine, but on Ultra preset 1440p I got an average of about 60fps, which is decent for a very "green" Unreal Engine game. All input methods checked work as expected. Keyboard works, although not recommended for a racing game. Gamepad works, XBOX controller with the default Steam settings. Logitech G27 works as expected using Oversteer, might need to remap some of the buttons.
