No noticeable issues. Slightly choppy on a non-gaming laptop (but most games are, on this laptop).
Do not do the following:
I was trying to reduce "lag" or "chop" a bit, so I tried to add "PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 %command%" in the launch options. That helped with speed issues for a different game (HighFleet), but it made this game unplayable.
If you're on a non-gaming laptop, set your expectations low as far as performance is concerned, but the game is still playable. Just a little "choppy".
It works fine, but may run slow on non-gaming laptops.
After assembling the R35 tank, I try to use the "drybrush" tool. After getting prompted with the tutorial text, the game freezes.
Fixing the R35 / drybrush freeze If you have run into the R35 / drybrush freeze that I had referenced in an earlier post here, ensure you have installed your GPU drivers and that they are fully up-to-date! Instructions are available on ProtonDB: https://www.protondb.com/help/improving-performance.
- If you're on Fedora, here are some good resources to work off of:
Loads, but frequent crashes. Cannot play at max settings.
I was able to launch a campagin by lowering graphic settings from "Extreme" to "High". About 10 minutes after starting, the game crashed.
If you cannot start a campagin at all, try lowering the graphics setting to "High" or below.
ATTENTION: If you are only able to play in in Quick Drive, make sure to move the game to a custom folder. See below.
You will not be able to run outside of Quick Drive if the directory starts with a period. Make a custom directory. I.e. /home/TrainSim and move the game inside of it.
In Steam: Settings -> Downloads -> Steam library folders -> Create a folder in /home that does NOT start with a period (/home/TrainSim) -> Select that folder -> Select the game -> Move -> Select the new directory
!!!ATTENTION PEOPLE WITH EAC ISSUES!!!: After a lot of experimenting, I got EAC to work. 1) Ensure "Secure Boot" (located within BIOS) is turned OFF. 2) Another step that I took was updating my Nvidia graphics drivers to 510.60.02 from the Fedora "Gnome Software" repo. I had to uninstall the previous Nvidia graphics drivers first, and I believe I had to reboot as well. It's a little annoying, but it works!
Happens maybe every 10th match or so. Only lasts a second or two. Kind of neat when you see them, TBH. I have a folder of them. You will see a "sun spot". Typically a large black circle. Sometimes neon colors. I think it has something to do with ammo being fired.
When I launched in Native (after DISABLING Secure Boot) the window was about 1" below where it should sit. It was marked full screen but was NOT full screen. I changed graphical settings to Windowed and saw no change. I changed it back to full screen and restarted the game. That fixed it.
1 out of every 30 to 40 matches, my cursor will jump about 90 degrees to the right. It goes away right after that. Very annoying.
You have to DISABLE SECURE BOOT in order to get into Realistic Battles, Naval battles, etc. If you do not disable secure boot, you can only play in arcade.
!!!ATTENTION USERS WITH EAC ISSUES!!!:
The only tinkering needed is DISABLE SECURE BOOT to fix the EAC issue! Takes about 3 minute to fix, and you'll be up and running! :)
Fullscreen weirdness: There was a weird full screen issue I had. Switch to windowed mode, restart WT, switch back to fullscreen, restart WT and it should be fixed!
Runs fine in with Forced Compatibility mode on
Like others have mentioned, I was unable to connect to the server running the game natively. After I went to: Properties -> Compatibility -> "Force Steam Play compatibility" it worked fine.
