Not sure if it really is tinkering, but just like another user, I had to enable ¨Force the use of a specific Steam Play compatibility tool" in the game compatibility settings. Setting this to the latest stable version.

Withouth enabling the ¨Force Steam specific compatbility" the game isn´t playable. The mouse doesn´t get captured by the game, which makes you unable to click anything. So while you can get into the menu without that option selected, you can´t actually play the game. For the rest, apart from reduced performance, it has ran fine for me so far without any problems with graphics, textures or gameplay.
