On Ultra settings at 720p I was getting between 60 and 45 FPS. I recommend the Mouse Only template and have uploaded one that uses the "Relaxed" joystick curve with useful hotkeys on the D-Pad and face buttons.
At 780p the Low graphics settings give 90 FPS, Medium varies between 60 and 90, and High gives a constant 45 FPS. Placing stones on the larger boards requires some precision so I recommend Joystick Mouse with the "Relaxed" curve. I have uploaded a layout that uses with with common hotkeys on the face buttons, D-Pad and a radial menu on the left touchpad.

At 720p with the default (and only) graphics configuration I got a constant 90 FPS. I recommend the Mouse Only template and have uploaded one using the "Relaxed" joystick curve.
On Steam Deck I was able to minimize the TDP to 3W and the GPU clock to 200MHz with no adverse effects. No need to limit the frame rate.
