The game runs very smooth. You can start playing directly out of the box.
May stutter at the beginning because of shader caching. But after some minutes it stays very smooth and enjoyable.

Game does have a huge performance drop for a minute or so every five minutes. Very annoying and frustrating. Tried to switch NVIDIA drivers but nothing changed. Also tried to change to Proton 8 but after doing so Ubisoft Connect wasnt found anymore and reinstalling it via protontricks did absolutley nothing.

Grand Theft Auto IV: The Complete Edition
The game runs very well after installing FusionFix and adding the Start Option. Didnt try it without tinkering tho.
Tinker Steps:Set launch options
WINEDLLOVERRIDES="dinput8=n,b" %command%
Just install the FusionFix mod like instructed on the github and add the start option to your game in Steam.
10 hours in and still no problems.
