Provided the correct hardware this game runs just fine.
Very slight crackling in intro cutscene
Compared with how it natively runs on windows I experienced about 20-30 less frames.
Essentially any time I move my camera I lose 10-15 frames
The specs needed to run this game at a consistent 60 fps are much higher than they are on windows. Additionally it would appear that a high end graphics card is not necessary for a consistent experience, my maximum graphics card usage while playing this game was about 30% (according to mangohud), however my CPU was nearly maxed at 80% at it's absolute lowest. If this is not consistent with others findings please message me on steam.
An amazing metroidvania that runs almost perfectly with proton.
The audio in the introduction cutscene crackled a little, every other prerendered cutscene had no music what so ever.
When quitting the game's frame would occasionally remain full screen, requiring a force stop
Has sleight stuttering issues, however it runs better than the native version so if you want to play this game, I'd try it on proton.
There were some small performance problems in the more shader heavy sections of the game, specifically the final part.
Just a great racing game that works nearly perfectly with proton
When the game would hang, it was impossible to alt tab
When a controller would disconnect it would stop all other other inputs from functioning correctly
Use of the install and play feature of Trackmania Exchange is non functional, although I do believe that this is a problem with the steam version as a whole and not proton.
It works fantastically out of the box, would recommend.
I always have this problem with proton, I just initiate full screen from my WM and everything works fine.
I would get occasional lag spikes, however I believe that may be due to the VHS shaders being applied and there is an option to turn those off.
