It doesn't even try to run
Tried All Proton versions packaged with the flatpak release, Game is totally non-functional-some of the pre 9.0 versions can display the launcher settings, but game returns to Steam interface immediately in every instance.
1st tested with modded installation, then vanilla-failure to launch in both cases.
Installed extra runners via ProtonUp from flatpak repository, none of these have had an effect.
Launch Options. Tried: --dx10 --dx11 --dx12 --vulkan --opengl SteamDeck=1, none of which have a discernable effect. Resolutions also have no effect. Tried with WINE with default settings-no launch

I swear this game used to run under Proton 9.0.2 but I cannot get the game to run anymore
Nothing significant to note. Game seems to run at full speed with little to no degradations in quality.
Works out of the box on Batocera v41, occasional frame drops, may need to try vulkan or in game graphics tweaks to sort out frame drops.
Aiming feels strange, aiming carries momentum-Probably an issue with the game itself
Get a good hour or two before it crashes, again, could be the game itself
If all you did was just select Proton 9.0.4 as a global option, it should allow you to start and play this without immediately needing to troubleshoot.
