some stuttering with mouselook and strafing if reverb enabled in audio options
The game drives the graphics card unnecessarily hard if V-sync not enabled (or V-sync only enabled in nVidia driver options)
Tried a lot of of launch tweaks to try and minimise the stuttering and, in the end, found that disabling reverb in the in-game audio options resolves it completely (seem to remember it was an issue with the original game under Windows back in the day). Flawless now.
Didn't try multiplayer. Proton 5.0-7. Single-player game back to flawless again after removal of denuvo. Really does need the VRAM optimisation built into the 440.82 driver (45-60 fps if using earlier driver; 150-240 fps with it on ultra-nightmare detail at 2K)
Proton 5.0-7. No launch options or other tweaks needed. Flawless performance on max settings at 2K
On Proton 5.0-7, played at a solid 60 fps (my V-Sync limit) at 2K with everything set to Epic.
Occasional brief pauses when moving quickly through wide open areas
Seemed to play best in true fullscreen rather than the default fullscreen window. Tested with X-Box 360 controller (wired) - no issues, vibration worked fine
