Works like a charm!
Overall experience: Intrusion 2 is an easy recommendation as it runs perfectly native without any tinkering required.
A quick note on audio: Contrary to the only Steam Deck report currently available, I experienced no issues with audio whatsoever. For reference I'm running Pipewire with the pipewire-pulse pacakge installed which might contribute to compatibiity. If you're worried about audio on your system save yourself the hassle and just try the demo on the steam store before buying.
Minor bugs:
- The windowed and fullscreen setting seems to be inverted in the options menu, functionality is flawless otherwise.
- The only resolution options available are "Default" and "0x0". This bug was not present in the demo. "Default" works perfectly though and appears to be native resolution.
I have tested STALKER SoC on both the default arch kernel and zen, with both Proton 7.0-1 and GE-Proton7.10-1 (Bin version, Installed via the AUR) which were launched from Steam directly. All of the above worked almost flawlessly though it would appear Proton GE works better with the startup screen. Side note on modding: Early on I was tourmented by my game crashing when creating a new save file. Though I initially thought it was linux / compatibility software related it turned out to be an outdated mod. As such don't be a fool like me and try modding from the get go. Also; be wary of mods which don't support v 1.0006 (Steam's current default). Good hunting, STALKER.
I think it's safe to say Titanfall 2 on Linux is indistinguishable from the Windows experience.
TECHNICALLY yes, I did, BUT literally ONLY ONCE. On one ocassion I experienced laggy and inacurate tracking when playing the singleplayer story mode. I believe I may have tabbed out and back into the game prior to this happening. But aside from this one instance, the game has been flawless.
Titanfall 2 is notorious for its janky multiplayer backend. EA servers will be EA servers after all, so wait times are considerably long for matchmaking, and sometimes you will get timed out from the server. But with Linux in mind there were no issued which appeared to be Linux/Proton specific.
I've put 32 hours into this game and I have no intention of stopping now. Launch speed is maybe a tad bit slow but other than that the game feels practically native on my hardware.
My only gripe with Titanfall 2 is that when I Alt + Tab out of the game Origin appears to have created 7 "ghost launchers". In other words 7 Origin launcher windows which will send me back to my previous window if I try to Alt + Tab into them. This doesn't show up on the KDE task manager on the bottom of the screen though so it's a minuscule gripe.
