Unplayable. Easy Anti-Cheat support not properly enabled by developers.
Tried to manually install vcredist and xinput.dlls with no change
Steam launches a transparent EAC splash screen, followed by a black screen which quickly Crashes To Desktop. Unplayable in Experimental, GE, 8.0-4 and 7.0-6. Installing EAC Runtime from Tools in Steam does not make a difference. Easy Anti-Cheat provides support for Proton (https://partner.steamgames.com/doc/steamdeck/proton) but DIMPS and Bandai Namco do not seem interested or aware in changing it despite the fact this game is still on an active development cycle.
It's actually a bummer how much time I spent with this game before making the jump to Debian, only to find out it's completely broke. I see a lot of reports recommending tweaks related to the game files or patching through a similar way mods do (which would disable multiplayer) but all these reports have in common that they only seem to work in Arch-based distros.
Also tried Proton default, 7.0-6, GE 8-25 and GE 9-25. "Running Executable" and instantly closes.
I couldn't even get any logs as to what's going on, and fixes posted in other testimonies here didn't help :C
Native build works just as good as Windows
Multiplayer connection is a bit spotty, but that's something related to my own home and not to running this game on Linux.
There is no tinkering, no Proton or Wine needed. It's natural for a Unity game to be easily ported to Linux but as someone who's played both in Win10 and a Debian distro, I can safely say this game has no issue running on the latter. It'll even read cloud save data without any bugs!
While there are some glaring bugs like certain Libretro Cores causing a crash, or the mouse doesn't recapture properly immediately after alt-tabbing, these are all bugs that I faced in my previous (and much more underequipped) Win10 PC, so these are side-effects of Tower Unite's state of Early Access/Active development rather than issues exclusive to Proton. A Linux and a Windows user will have nearly the same experience playing! Apart from GE, also works in Experimental and 8.0-4 from my testing.
