Does not launch. Will keep trying until I have enough accrued play time to leave a review.
echo "%command%" | sed s/start_protected_game.exe/eldenring.exe/ | sh
Can boot into offline game (start_protected_mode.exe) fine. Otherwise unable boot into primary game (EldenRing.exe) using ordinary methods, attempted the following workaround as suggested by other users:
- I bypass initial EAC using
nmcli device down [device]
command to disable networking. - I execute
nmcli device up [device]
to re-enable networking. - I should be able to use the Login menu option or connect to game servers but I am unable to.
I attempted to re-enable networking just before, immediately as, and just after the main window for the game is deployed, multiple times for each method, to no avail.
Proton Experimental (Bleeding Edge) does not change anything for me. Neither does switching between Runtime & Native clients.
A little bit of latency here and there and maybe a NAT issue for playing with people on LAN making that whole process much less stable. But I can launch to menu without using the EAC workaround and subsequently login just fine!
I'm still using Proton Experimental "Bleeding Edge" but I didn't need to suspend networking on boot to play the game. My controller inputs work hassle-free. Visually runs better on my machine than I predicted. The only major issue is the occasional permanently invisible enemy but it's a rare bug. Much improved since launch already!
One step backward.
Was able to play all yesterday on PE Bleeding Edge just fine. EAC worked, controller worked, no white screen. Now I'm only getting the white screen. When I disable Bleeding Edge and revert to standard Experimental it's the same thing.
No Network Connection
game attempts to connect to the servers, then it suggests checking your network connection before returning you to the menu.
I am very familiar with the "Dear Tenno," crash screen at this point, but I also play quite a bit. Not a perfectly smooth experience, will sometimes experience stuttering near the beginning of maps and crashes mostly happen when shifting between areas/menus.
