Steam Deck game controller mapping
R5 and L5 set to volume up and volume down
The volume keys disable the controls
Sometimes the framerate would lower despite the FPS counter remaining the same
The game often launched in offline mode and I often didn't bother setting it back to online
If you use the volume keys while playing Dark Souls Remastered then often times the controls completely disable and you need to exit the game to get them working again.
A fix I found is to set two of your spare mappings to volume up and volume down. Both of these mappings won't actually control the volume but pressing them both enables the controls when they get disabled.
I'm unsure how to share it here but I put together a control set called "Steam Deck controls fix" with this applied to R5 and L5 alongside the touch screen being disabled. R4 and L4 are also set to B to make for smoother running while turning the camera.
