Nearly flawless. The dev is also getting testers for a native Linux version, so I'd highly recommend checking that out
Sometimes when the game has a lot of those bass-heavy swooshy noises, there can be slight skips. Otherwise runs great.
Only issues were ocassional frame rate dips after some wall walk transitions (130+ down to at most 90), but totally playable
Worked a few days ago, unable to start now
Began playing on January 28th and it worked flawlessly with Proton 5.13. Tried again on February 1st, with the only difference being a Mesa update from 20.3.3 to 20.3.4 and some Vulkan shader caching before I tried to start. No computer reboot was needed, but tried and didn't change anything.
Works very well, no noticeable issues of any sort
Exporting MANGOHUD=1 system-wide is not a good idea and is what caused the issues I talked about in the last review.
You wouldn't think it wasn't native!
The only issue I see is a slight stutter when clearing an encounter, right before the reward shows up on screen. Other than that, it runs as if it were native
Had to add -windowed
as a launch command for the game to load correctly.
I've only gone through the campaigns of Halo CE, 2, and 3 so far. Halo CE had ocassional freezes (<5) during the campaign where I had to stop the game and restart. Halo 2 had only 1 such freeze, and I have yet to freeze during Halo 3.
Cannot get past Origin startup
The behavior varies with subsequent tries.
Either Origin does not load at all (after clicking "Play" on Steam, the button signifies "Loading" before changing to "Close" for a second and exiting out), loads the initial "connecting" window and crashes (sometimes with a crash report window), or occasionally goes to what I assume is the first Origin window as it has a menu bar before crashing (again only sometimes with a crash report window).
Origin will also usually spawn 5-7 small blank windows with the "connecting" window that eventually will disappear after a crash. I've also tried Proton-GE versions as well (17+) but it does not change anything.
