The laucher does not start.
If the laucher is bypassed using launch options "/path/to/.steam/steam/steamapps/common/Cities Skylines II/Cities2.exe" %command%, the game starts, but shows a black screen with the game's custom mouse cursor for a short while, then crashes/exits.
Did not appear to launch at first. After updating the system and Steam and rebooting, it plays well. Maybe that did it, or maybe it was just being slow at first. GPU fans (I think?) are spinning unusually hard while in the main menu, but calm down a bit once properly in game. Performance is good.
If you face the same mouse issue as I, the game is unplayable unless you feel like memorizing tens of keybindings right off the bat.
Cannot use mouse to move controls in cockpit, as if mouse movement is not registered while left mouse button is held. Managed once to get it working somehow by alt-tabbing and changing to/from fullscreen, but have had no luck since then. Tried different Proton versions (7, Experimental, GE-7) and desktop environments (XFCE, MATE, KDE), but same issue with all.
The game runs fine otherwise.
