Runtime Error 217
Tried installing Visual C Redistributable with appropriate WINEPREFIX. Still produces same error. However, can be run directly via Wine but interface is all borked (cant use keyboard shortcuts, mouse cursur offset) and no video playback.
Will not launch!
EA App launches under GE-Proton9.1-1, but the game will not launch... Also tried with Proton 7.0.4 as recommended by others, but in this case not even the EA App will launch!
Mass Effect Legendary Edition and anything EA is a wash...
Must specify the following launch options in any Proton version other than 6.5-GE-2 to get the discrete GPU (nVidia GTX970M) to handle the rendering:
__NV_PRIME_RENDER_OFFLOAD=1 __GLX_VENDOR_LIBRARY_NAME=nvidia
Under Proton 6.5-GE-2 the frame is always below 20fps rendering a fast action game like Warframe unplayable.
Using a different version resulted in the Integrated Graphics being selected requiring the nVidia offload parameters, which bring the frame rate up to 60fps, but with severe and frequent frame rate drops; frame rate drops to 3-5 fps every 5-15 seconds and may completely freeze for a couple of seconds, which in turn leads to frequent crashes (haven't been able to stay in-game for more than 5-10 minutes).
On every frame rate drop (which happens every 5-10 seconds) the game would sometimes freeze for 1-3 seconds or completely crash (about 5-10 minutes in-game max).
