Game works just fine and brings back old memories.
I don't know why some users cannot run the game, for me it works perfectly fine. Yes i did get a error message about "game not working" when the game started, don't close it just select "wait"...the game works just fine.

Game crashes frequently, i changed proton versions from 9.0-4 to expermintal and lower. The crashes are randomly and very annoying. I did read Windows users have issues with this game as well, some managed to fix it but others did not. I get between 80fps and 160fps with settings at high, raytracing disabled otherwise i lose alot of fps. The game runs butter smooth, like i whas playing it on a Windows machine.

Game runs very smooth on Pop! OS 22.04 with all settings set at high.
After 90 minutes of playing the game has huge fps drops, i have read on the internet that other users have the same issue. It's a bug in the game that is not fixed. Overall my fps mostly hits 90-110 fps and rarely goes to 80fps. The gameplay is super smooth, i really did not think this would be possible in Linux. The game runs as great as on Windows 10/11.

Het spel speelt geweldig onder linux. Totaal geen problemen ervaren.
Installed it and tried to run it with Proton 6.21-GE-2 and Proton 6.20-GE-1 without any luck.
Still not working
I am very dissapointed that this game STILL DOES NOT RUN with steam proton. Why did they not fix this issue yet ?
Game boots up fine with GE-Proton9-15 and Proton 9.0.3 BUT the game it self is stuttering. Downgrading to 7.0-6 fixes this.
Game overall is blazing fast, but as the title says you really need a older proton to fix the stuttering.
Game is working great, using 1080P and everything maxed out. Game runs very very smooth. I am using Proton 6.21-GE-2.

Spel start en speelt echt vloeiend op, brengt veel herinneringen terug van vroeger haha. Eerste 2 missies behaald op hard modus. Ben zeer tevreden over hoe het spel draait onder linux. Windows komt bij mij echt niet meer terug.
Pas wel op met Proton-GE 9-20, die is niet goed geoptimaliseerd voor dit spel. Wanneer jij je toetsen wil veranderen zie je andere toetsen dan wat jij ingevoerd hebt. Dit is een bug in hun versie want in proton 9.03 van steam is dit probleem er namelijk niet.
I got the game for free from Amazon Prime (GOG version). I installed it using Heroic Games Launcher. The first thing i did was using GE-Proton10-10, game worked fine. However i tried GE-Proton9-27 and after the loading screen the game freezes up your entire system. You cannot enter TTY or ALT TAB out of the game, NOTHING works. So i did some more testings on this game
Game by default: (no mods) Steam Proton 10.x = Works till the loading screen, after that you hear the sounds of the menu but you don't see any thing. It's useless Steam Proton 9.x = NOT WORKING and FREEZING YOUR ENTIRE SYSTEM. GE-Proton10.xx = WORKING FINE!, everything works as it should. GE-Proton9.x = NOT WORKING and FREEZING YOUR ENTIRE SYSTEM.
Now i did some more testings and installed OpenJKDF2 (more info -> https://github.com/shinyquagsire23/OpenJKDF2). This time it allows more proton versions to work.
Steam Proton 10.x = WORKING FINE!, everything works as it should. Steam Proton 9.x = WORKING FINE!, everything works as it should. GE-Proton10.xx = WORKING FINE!, everything works as it should. GE-Proton9.x = WORKING FINE!, everything works as it should.
So i would recommand OpenJKDF2 if you want to play safe!. Another thing i would recommand is the remaster on moddb, this really is a must!

I finished the game yesterday with OpenJKDF2 + Remastered 3.3 version. Really awesome!
This game should be rated as platinum
