Works with the official launcher by editing the file drive_c/users/steamuser/Documents/My Games/FINAL FANTASY XIV - A Realm Reborn/FFXIV_BOOT.cfg with:

Cannot type words with accent ^ like ê when using PROTON_ENABLE_WAYLAND=1.
When using PROTON_ENABLE_WAYLAND=0, ^ works but Alt Gr modifier works as Alt thus special letters/symbols cannot be used.
