Everything seemed fine to me, and the problems I had other than an audio thing were also problems on Windows.
-sdlaudiodriver pipewire
Needed to set -sdlaudiodriver pipewire
for it to work with pipewire
Fullscreen sometimes has the taskbar stay until you unset and reset it
Right now, the game crashes while starting a match using mangohud %command%
. It seems to work with either the environment variable set or launch options of MANGOHUD=1 %command%
.
Also, water causes a strange stuttering when looking around if you have OBS open.
SDL_VIDEODRIVER=wayland %command%
I only tested running a second instance of the game on the same machine. Worked fine.
This game seems to have at least one person on the team who cares about Linux and getting it to work. For native Wayland, you currently need a launch option, but apparently, they added a GUI option for 2.0. Here's a blog post where they talk about some 2.0 Linux stuff and Wayland at the end: https://factorio.com/blog/post/fff-408
mangohud gamemoderun %command%
The player count really affects performance. On full servers of 12 people, i get at most 10 fps
Big desync in the big servers
If you're playing with like a couple friends, the performance is fine, but it doesn't scale at all.
Runs poorly, fails to render numbers
Numbers often fail to render
Not as bad as before, but still there
The performance got better recently, but the same update made the numbers start disappearing more often
gamescope -f -w 1920 -h 1080 %command%
There was very bad latency without gamescope
The game usually crashed when i tried to move around the camera without gamescope
I don't know what causes the instability, could be Sway or Wayland, but the native build was instable for me when not run in gamescope.
A lot of times gives a lot of errors and crashes when loading if you start through Steam. Works fine if you go to the folder and start it using play.sh. And sometimes starting through Steam works fine too, so I'm not sure what causes the crashes yet.
