My mouse issues and Steam controller not being recognised made this an annoying experience, though all game functionality was there.
gamescope -w 1920 -h 1080 -f -s 2 -- mangohud %command%
I had set the resolution to 1920x1080 using gamescope, but the initial game resolution was 1280xsomething, which had the effect of a shrunken screen in the center of my monitor. Once I set the ingame resolution to match the gamescope session everything worked correctly.
Mouse is not being constrained properly and only works in a smaller portion of the screen. Also the mouse was not being recognised at first. I had to switch back and forth between different desktops before the game registered the mouse.
Using only Proton8-05 and Proton-Experimental resulted in a black screen that closed after a second, though the game was still technically running. Could only get the game to run using gamescope.
Mangohud was reporting 99% GPU usage during character creation when run through the Steam client. When I ran it through Lutris, it was down to 69-ish%. I have no idea why (wrong ICD choice maybe?). More testing is required on my end.
All my testing was done in Hyprland (which means Wayland). I have KDE6 installed but haven't tested this game in it yet (really like my Hyprland setup).
I only tested for a less than an hour, but everything I tested worked: Options (changing from borderless to fullscreen, adjusting audio, changing controller settings), Training Mode/Free Training, Training Mode/Command Training, and exiting the game.
Also picked up my arcade stick (old XBox 360 HORI-Pro EX-SE) without any issues.
Finally Virtua Fighter 5 has come to PC and linux. If this trend stays the same for the full release of REVO and the new VF Project then I will be a happy man.
Tested on 7800X3D/7900XTX, Vanilla Arch (btw) and Hyprland with default Proton and GE-Proton9-14.
