The game won't start under x-windows it just pops up a white box. When starting on Wayland the game starts and runs normally.
It's not possible to start the game with the plain Steam settings you have to use Proton Hotfix on Wayland to get it to start.
Game used to play but is now stuck on Loading...
Tested with all the versions of Proton from Experimental until 3.7-8 they all get stuck on the Loading... screen. The game is thus unplayable anymore on Linux.
It's odd that it used to work with Proton a long time ago, I've got 66 minutes playtime on this game.
Guess an update borked the game.
Note that newer versions of Proton load the initial game Loading... screen in a wine desktop window, and older versions of proton load the Loading... screen fullscreen. Game is still unplayable in both scenarios.
The opening scene works fantastic, getting your hopes up for a great gaming experience, once in the house though all goes to pieces.
Heavy motion blur due to low Frames per Second
After the initial "dream sequence" where everything works perfectly and the FPS is 60... when you get to the house, the FPS drops to 4 FPS on High and 7 FPS on Low settings. It makes it really difficult to move around, look at things and open drawers as every movement takes 20 seconds. The motion blur is also really heavy where you see more blur than sharp.
The game gets really laggy in the house and doesn't react to esc on the keyboard for 30 seconds or more.
Game produces a pop up that states: Failed to Initialize graphics missing DirectX 11
Failed to initialize graphics. Make sure you have DirectX 11 installed, have up to date drivers for your graphics card and have not disabled 3D acceleration in display settings. InitializeEngineGraphics failed
Usually Steam Proton prompts then to install DirectX 11 but not with this game
