Had absolutely no issues playing it on the Steam Deck. Multiple playthroughs and 100% achievements on the Deck.
Basically flawless on the Steam Deck. Only slight hiccup is the annoying settings window on launch.
Crackling after sleep. Pause Games plugin seemed to help.
Some occasional audio crackling after waking from sleep.
Apart from the lack of a good official layout, and some occasional post-sleep audio crackling (that seemed to not be as prevalent after updating the Deck), seems to play just fine on the Steam Deck.
Crackling after game has been running for an extended period of time / Steam Deck has been asleep. Switching to Proton-GE seemed to help alleviate it.
You'll need to switch the layout for a proper experience. Switching to Proton-GE is not needed but I did it to see if it'd help with crackling, and it does feel like it did to some extent.
Left Trackpad to Enter for left-hand only reading capability
Similar crackling issue as with other THE DAY AFTER VNs after sleep. Restarting the game fixes the audio again.
Used GE just in case it helps with the audio crackling after sleep. You can most likely run all defaults (except controller layout) and have a perfectly acceptable playing experience, since that was possible with the other THE DAY AFTER chapters.

Similar crackling issue as with other THE DAY AFTER VNs after sleep. Restarting the game fixes the audio again.
Game downloads Steam Cloud saves just once after installing unless you manually delete a local save file due to poor game implementation of saves.
GE Proton shouldn't be needed. Perfectly playable experience on the Steam Deck barring issues with sleep.
