This game runs fantastic with proton, even the remaster works great which was just released a week ago.

Had to change the version of proton to 6.3-6 since the game still uses 3.7-8 as the default

Right click on the game and go to Properties > Compatibility > check the box that says "Force the use of a specific Steam Play compatibility tool" > choose Proton 6.3-6 or Proton Experimental from the drop down menu

Runs great if you switch to proton 6.3-8, but otherwise the game is basically borked and crashes when any cutscenes play on other protons
