Just works, make sure to install proton BattlEye runtime (soon APB switches to EAC)
Currently the game's launcher does not actually launch the game (APB.exe) when pressing play, it just quits. So after installing/updating with the launcher set the launch options to point to the actual game binary APB.exe and it'll boot up. (Change paths as needed.)
Using the steam login integration somehow causes a crash in the login screen, so disable that with -nosteam
and log in manually. After that everything works fine.
There is some stutter on first time playing, probably shaders compiling on demand, very smooth after absolutely no lagspikes.
Works perfectly out of the box, controllers just work, so does online
Multiplayer does NOT work with Proton-GE. GE fixes cutscenes, but breaks multi.
Valve's official Proton cutscenes (two very minor ones) are borked but multi works fine.

Runs really well without any issues, did a full playthrough online.
Very minor UI glitch in the main menu, where you cannot see if a checkbox it checked or not (hazardous events). It does work when you click, just doesn't render the checkmark. Your friend in multiplayer can see, in the server list, the game parameters and verify things are set properly.
Without deleting libEGL.dll from game directory, it renders black screen (sound still works) and prints to terminal:
[368:1113/112032:ERROR:gl_surface_egl.cc(403)] eglCreateWindowSurface failed with error EGL_BAD_ALLOC
After deleting the file it works perfectly.
Works perfectly out of the box, controllers work too
Suggest turning off vsync to avoid input lag. This is not specific to Proton though.
Works fine out of box
As mentioned, you need Franklin Gothic Medium Regular font to avoid textbox overrun. Put the ttf file in ~/.fonts/ or install system-wide.
Just works, though setting the game to English is a bit tricky in current version as it starts up in Chinese.
Severe rendering glitches when ingame, cannot see character, enemies, etc.
Works perfectly out of the box, also with controller
Set game language to English in the options. Problems described in older reports appear to have been fixed, have not had any issues.
