On my machine this game is basically unplayable due to unreasonable performance issues, while on windows it worked fine
Sound in videos (i.e. splashscreen when opening the game) is choppy, fixable with launch option other people mentioned here
Mouse becomes incredibly jittery if mouse is set to 450dpi mode, works fine on 1800dpi mode
On windows this game runs perfectly on my hardware, on linux through proton I didnt even bother opening a mission - ~60fps on lowest settings and periodically dropping more and more for no apparent reason; had 'ran out of v-memory' multiple times, never happened on windows
As I mentioned, 'out of v-memory' crashes despite working fine on windows
Unplayable fps compared to windows
On windows I got well over 120fps, on linux through proton the game runs at 30-40fps in the main menu base, slowly dropping. I wasnt able to actually play missions or anything because of how low the fps is, and I know that the issue is in proton since on windows it runs fine. Also, cutscenes are broken but that is fixable with a launch option
The game isnt accessible on steam anymore for players who dont have the game and for those who do it just doesnt work, servers are dead
Proton doesnt work with EAC, native version (which exists) starts for a black screen
If launched using proton compat tool, throws a EAC error; If launched as a native app, yes it has a native version, it starts up and loads into black screen with a stuck cursor without getting to the menu
Pirate's life update broke matchmaking for me
After the pirate's life came out, I consistently get 'coarsebeard' code when trying to connect to game servers, before the update it ran completely fine.
