Seems to be playable, but customization menu seems borked completely
Blurry background on the menu backgrounds, missing first person model (no hand/arm)
I seem to be missing my right hand in-game which makes some weapons look a bit odd when holding them. Additionally, the menu background pictures are really low-quality for some reason, but when actually getting in-game it looks fine.
Switching between various proton versions (Steam recommended, GE Proton, Proton 8, etc) didn't seem to fix the above problems, but otherwise I'm getting 60 FPS steady on my system, and multiplayer seems stable (don't have the campaign to test).
Runs very well and smoothly, but you may need to force your GPU into its gaming/performance mode.
gamemoderun mangohud %command% -force-d3d12
Star Trucker by default doesn't seem to switch my GPU (Radeon RX 6700 XT) into gaming/performance mode by default - this caused some pretty bad FPS when I first started playing (around 45 FPS) despite the fact that I knew this game was playing at over 100FPS in Windows.
To fix this, I needed to download CoreCtrl and make a profile for the game (select the Star Trucker.exe file as the "executable"), in which I manually specified 3D Fullscreen with the GPU minimum MHz/Max MHz set very high (2500/2600MHz respectively), along with the Memory Max MHz to 1000. Don't forget to apply and then save the profile settings.
For good measure I also set the CPU's governor to Performance mode as well.
If you do this correctly, when launching Star Trucker you should notice that the GPU utilization ramps up within CoreCtrl. By default, you need to have launched CoreCtrl manually for this to kick in, but the project's wiki has instructions on setting it to auto-boot. Fixed all of my FPS issues!
