Tinker Steps:Switch to older version: 8.0-5
Proton 9.0-2 didn't work, GE didn't work, 8.0-5 didn't work but as another user mentioned, using wine directly worked. I wanted to get Proton to work so I manually launched the command, which didn't work either, then Proton 8.0-5 started working out of nowhere.
Apart from the initial tinkering it runs flawlessly.

No keyboard input in text field using Proton 9.0-4, had to switch. Other keyboard shortcuts work fine so this isn't game-breaking, it only locks the "type-a-word" mode.
