I did stuff to get the bg3mm installed with lutris but the game WILL completely crash itself constantly without turning offexpo/xmp
WINEDLLOVERRIDES="DWrite.dll=n,b" %COMMAND% --skip-launcher --vulkan
use Lutris to install baldur's gate 3 mod manager, it is simple but also dumby complicated so I will not be explaining the whole thing here, look it up on YouTube.
Turn off EXPO/XMP. It causes slight instibility in your memory and this game will crash CONSTANTLY with unexplained memory errors if you do not just run your ram at the base speed for whatever ddr your ram is. other than that this game is very easy to play unless you want to use mods that aren't in the in game mod manager site.
the skip vulkan command just launches past the launcher directly into the vulkan version. everything before that for the commands you only need if you are running a script extender mod for a large number of mods on stuff like nexusmods. Basically just turn off EXPO/XMP in your bios if you have crashing problems and that will fix it.
runs perfectly at maxed out 4k on a 43 inch screen. if you lag it's either an nvidia bug, you didn't tinker right, or your hardware sucks
LD_PRELOAD= %COMMAND%
VERY minimal audio crackles or hitches, playable
DX9 will absolutely throw a fit on proton, pls go to settings and swap to DX11 then restart game.
running default the game will constantly hitch and run at like 12 fps no matter the settings, changing to DX11 and using the commands in launch options fixes it instantly. idk what dev went and kicked somethin but EAC support is on for this game now, online and all playable, this game should be rated gold.
LD_PRELOAD= %COMMAND%
occasional slight hitch in audio like a stutter here and then not a big issue at all barely noticeable.
prelaod command stops the game from randomly dropping to super low fps for no reason after playing for some time, I can play for hours on end with no problem. just change to dx11 and relaunch instead of using default dx9 because proton really hates dx9 bad and it barely works on dx9. A dev decided to kick something and EAC support for linux turned on randomly so you can actually play.
click launch, change to vulkan on the launcher settings, DO NOT USE FSR, turn off SSAO quality, volumetric fog quality because they both individually raise your frame timing by like 30% per quality level and absolutely destroy performance, and high quality shaders makes frame timing 15% higher but doesn't destroy the game. just make sure you do that and then you can basically crank every other setting if you want and you can basically run this game at 4k60 on an actual toaster. Have fun tenno.
