Doesn't recognize gamepad with default Deck Proton version. Tried 4.11-13 in the Compatibility menu based on other comments here. And it recognized the gamepad correctly and plays great on Deck.
Video settings defaults to high in the game menus but runs better on medium. 40hz on Deck seems to handle full races with a full grid great. Can up to 60hz on time trials. I'm sure there's more performance to be found.
This game is definitely more at home on mobile but the buttons are big enough that the Steam Deck's shoddy touchscreen works well.
Lowered TDP all the way down to 3. Lowered the screen to 40hz and capped at 20fps (the game can only run at 20fps by default).
This is a mobile game through and through. The 20fps lock could potentially be very jarring and unwelcome for some PC gamers. But this also means you can turn TDP and such way down on the Deck to get tons of battery life out of the game. Touch controls can be utilized without issue and the bulbous buttons are responsive to the Deck's screen (gamepad controls work fine too). I still think it would be best enjoyed on mobile but it runs and works flawlessly on Deck for whatever that's worth.
