Launcher runs, but game hits a black screen under Proton 6.3-3 and Proton 5.13-6 with latest version (0.22)

Launcher allows me to run the game perfectly fine, but the actual game loads into a black screen and eventually prompts me to kill it as not responding. Tried with both versions of proton previous reports say are working, no dice.

Game did not work with 6.3. did not work with experimental. did not work with 5.13. for some reason, worked flawlessly with 4.2.

Game loads with a black screen, and given nobody is ever going to read this and I don't even remember why I installed this game in the first place, I can't be bothered to try it any further.
