For me at least, this is Borked, to call it "Silver" seems a gross overstatement.
"PROTON_USE_D3D11=1 echo %command%" and "PROTON_USE_D3D11=1 echo %command%"
I've tried the solutions given in previous comments as well as solutions found here, here, a dotnet install guide found here, and finally a Lutris install script found here. It seems like it's the same issue as here, and as with the poster no suggested solutions solved it. No Proton GE versions or different Proton versions resolved anything either, I used a fresh Proton prefix each time as well.
Resolution could not be set higher than 1920x1080 in the setup menu, you need to change it to a higher resolution in the main menu GoldSrc options (mine was 2560x1600), if the aspect ratio doesn't match the mouse inputs won't line up
There is a missing texture on the loading screen and some very mild font glitches in the GoldSrc native menus but everything else behaves as it would under ideal conditions
Literally just works
Maybe Glorious Eggroll would make it perform slightly better but I couldn't get it to launch on GE-10 and the default prefix runs it seemingly perfectly
This would leave the impression that Linux performs about as well as Cyberpunk would on the nearest garden spud
The game ran horribly. After turning all settings down to minimum and the resolution down to 480p, it was only then barely playable, but still with frequent frame drops and lag spikes
I tried GE 51, 50, Proton expiremental, Proton 5, Proton 4, and a slew of settings from Steam Tinker Launch (gamescope, WineD3D, fsync, gamemode, etc). Nothing worked. This game in it's current state is playable, but only if you go in okay with a stuttery PS2 game
