Game works well but freezes on "save & exit" (saving was successful though)

Won't launch
When starting the game through Steam, nothing happens. Tried a few different Proton versions to no avail. Launching the executable directly (using my system's WINE installation) results in a window, but it's just black. No discernible errors in the console. Solus 4.3, kernel 5.13.12-193.

My computer meets the minimum system requirements, but the framerate dropped to low-single-digits in the outdoor areas. I didn't expect it to be as smooth as butter, but I expected to be able to play the game without frustration.
Game did not start until I switched to Proton Experimental. Although my computer is quite low-spec, it does meet the minimum system requirements and I've played games with similar graphics fine before - but I experienced a lot of performance problems. I'm not sure if this is a Wine problem or if the stated minimum system requirements are unrealistic.
the first patch seems to have solved the performance issues I was having, so please ignore my previous review. nice work!
