The game crashes immediately after entering the station at the beginning of the game

Game won't start
Tried default Proton, Experimental, and the latest GE, with and without launch options. The game won't start, it exits immediatelly after clicking the Play button, no windows displayed.
Starts with logo then black screen
The game starts and the logo is displayed. After that the screen turns black, although the mouse cursor remains active. Have to force quit after that.
Works only if you're able get past the Origin launcher
Installing the Origin launcher required multiple attempts of restarting the game, Steam and the entire system, re-installing the game and using different Proton versions. Once installed, I was able to run the game only once, further attempts to launch it failed. Steam either shows that the game is running, but no game windows show up. Or, Steam shows that the game isn't running but I see dozens of wine processes running in the background (related to Origin, EA, explorer, etc.). In either case, the game doesn't start, nor does the Origin launcher.
The only time I was able to start the game was under Proton-7.0rc6-GE-1
