Window appears with a black screen for less than a second then closes.
Works perfectly, lower resolutions compared to the maximum resolution may not work on ChromeOS
WINEDLLOVERRIDES="winhttp;winhttp_x64;0Harmony;0Harmony12;0Harmony-1.2;dnlib;UnityModManager=n,b" %command%
Setting lower resolutions to Borderless Fullscreen does not fill the screen. Setting lower resolutions to Windowed and pressing the Fullscreen button does not fill the screen. Alt+Enter does work to get both of these methods to fill the screen, but it will not automatically redo this on subsequent game launches and there may be issues with mouse-input fields.
Works with Proton Experimental. Modding works. Launch options are not needed for typical gameplay, and may not always be neccessary for modding.
WINEDLLOVERRIDES="ddraw.dll=n,b;TS3Patch.asi=n" unshare -n -r %command%
Worked properly only when renaming TS3W.exe to Sims3LauncherW.exe and renaming Sims3LauncherW.exe to anything else - otherwise the launcher wouldn't show up at all and the game would show up as stopped in Steam. Requires the above command-line arguments to use Smooth Patch (protontricks/winecfg is inaccessible in Borealis)
Mods:
The Mods folder (when created and configured properly) is located at
/home/chronos/.local/share/Steam/steamapps/compatdata/47890/pfx/drive_c/users/steamuser/Documents/Electronic Arts/The Sims 3/Mods
- to get here and add a mods folder and mods, press Ctrl+Alt+T to access Crosh, share your Downloads folder by typing, vmc share borealis Downloads
, then type vsh borealis
to access the Terminal, then cd
to the above The Sims 3
directory. Then, use the cp
or mv
commands to copy and move mods/folders.
Smooth Patch:
Use the above command-line argument, and copy/move the ddraw.dll
and TS3Patch.asi
to the same directory your TS3.exe
and TS3W.exe
files are located in. (steamapps/common/The Sims 3/Game/Bin)
Pressing the fullscreen buttons may cause the game to 'freak out' a bit for a second but it'll go back to normal if you wait. Game doesn't go windowed without a launch parameter.
Works as expected. Be prepared to turn down the graphics a notch for cutscenes to be smooth. Windowing and alt-tab isn't great, but it only causes short delays, the game won't break.
Fullscreen/windowed configuration does not save but can be changed with alt+enter, windowed has a better experience. Weird SMPTE color bar window appears in the top left and cannot be hidden or closed during gameplay.
Saving can cause long freezes
Not too many new problems separate from Windows, but on CrOS you get a pretty major visual obstruction of SMPTE color bars in the top left. Doesn't run as well as it probably should, considering some fairly intense new titles run better on here.
