Severe performance degredation after 30 minutes of play (60 fps to less than 10 fps) with 100% CPU usage during slowdown.
Reports of this issue date back at least two years and no permanent fix has been found yet. Clearing game cache works for another 30 minutes or so before the slowdown will occur again.
I chose "Everquest" (not any of the expansion entries) and the "Standalone - Live version" installation script. Game is running well without any issues, disconnects, or crashes. No white screen launcher either.
Installing via Steam and Proton led to game crashes and having to work around the white screen launcher.
Between the launcher "unknown error" and getting stuck at the brightness calibration screen, game has not been playable yet.

Using the default 7.0-3 proton. The first two launches, the game launcher gave "unknown error please try again later." All subsequent launches did start the game but got stuck at the brightness calibration screen. Tried experimental proton but no luck.
