only a small trick is needed in some cases. On my system games run with black screen prior setting the resolution in winecfg.
Customizations:
At first game had only a black screen, after that I did a modification on the resolution on the wine prefix running winecfg likde this: WINEPREFIX=/home/hmoller/.steam/steam/steamapps/compatdata/251690/pfx/ winecfg
and in graphics checked virtual desktop with my screen resolution.
