regular proton does not launch it but for some reason wine versions do, such as glorious eggroll
It may be abnormal but on my machine, if I launch via regular proton and not wine/GE, the game immediately crashes or black screens regardless of tinkering. For future records: Glorious Eggroll's Wine-GE-Latest variant or 8-26 as apparently what the heroic installer says by time of install. Strangely though, the game's ability to run in wine alone suggests that so long as the components are installed through the proper launcher, you could run the game simply by installing your launcher in Wine and then launching from that version of the launcher instead.
So, first of all, it's made in the Unreal Engine ... Second, the game has a high-speed DRM third, if you disable swap, memory overflow
%gamemoderun% gamemoderun PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1
heroic applies some winetricks by default during the install of the game so unknown
memory overflow or performance issues will cause stuttering and/or crashes
this game is a performance nightmare... it has no memory overflow protection and requires high-speed DRM unless the frequent hard shutdowns damaged proton itself
again, no memory overflow protection and if you can't meet the speed requirements of the DRM, the game won't even launch unless it somehow fried proton itself...

I had to set the game to proton EXPERIMENTAL to even get it to stop crashing during its rendering process. You then have to confirm that you own the game and agree to TOS to even start playing, which they somehow managed to bake into the game engine itself instead of during the launch process... (I had already reached the main menu and was only attempting to open settings)
