The thumbnails in the tutorial didn't show up - they were just white boxes. Thankfully, it's still easy to figure out how to play without them.

Run the game once so it creates the Proton prefix. Install the Unofficial Patch v11.5 via Protontricks "Run an arbitrary executable". When the patch installer asks for the game directory, point it to "Z:\home\USERNAME.local\share\Steam\steamapps\common\Vampire The Masquerade - Bloodlines"
