Rockstar keeps reporting "Steam failed to initialise. Please verify that the Steam Client is running and try again". Tried reinstalling, different versions or proton, deleting the proton files, no dice. Even tried different Wifi connections.

Same appears to be happening for other Rockstar titles. They were working fine and now it just seems impossible to get past this error.
