Native client is good, but Steam play is WAY better!
Was getting 30-45 FPS in the native OpenGL client using high settings. WIth Steam Play, it's solid 60 FPS on Ultra. The keyboard steering is a BIT more loose, but nothing you can't adjust. Overall, barring Steam Play breaking, I will not be using the native client anymore
Runs out of the box, same as Windows experience
Needs a Bethesda login, unless you switch Steam of offline mode
The audio issue is the only issue. A novice user might be scared, but fix the audio, and it's about 95% what you'd experience on Windows
Zero audio, outside of cut scene videos, out of the box. Installed xact using Protontricks, and added the following launch command:
WINEDLLOVERRIDES="xaudio2_7=n,b" PULSE_LATENCY_MSEC=90 PROTON_LOG=1 %command%
Audio worked perfectly afterwards
Minor texture issues and flickering, nothing game breaking
VERY playable, even on my minimum req hardware. Just do the audio tweaks, and your golden. At high settings, I was between 40-60 FPS, and never had a dip below 30. There was a small stutter at times in VATs and occasionally during certain conversation choices, but for what I'm rocking, what the game requires, and everything else taken into consideration, it runs fantastic. Just not Plat.
Ran out of the box, using 5.13 Proton, no commands needed
Had similar issues in Windows with clicks not registering. But seems even less accurate on Linux. TOTALLY not game breaking though

If you've downloaded the itchio version, your progress and saves WILL appear in the Steam version. If this is an issue, you can reset your progress within the game
Fantastic game, but see notes about playing the expansion
Crashed once during playing, but as I recall, the crash I experienced happens in Windows as well
In order to play the expansion, go into your library in the steam browser, and start it from there. It will give an option to play the original or the expan. As far as I have found, there is no other way to access the expan for play

Crashes on Alt+tab without the Borderless launch command
Alt+tab will crash you without the /borderless launch command. After, its fine.
