I'd expect to run the game at a higher FPS than I do given the graphics but it's still at least ~90 fps. May be the same on Windows, I don't know.
An update came out a few days ago that enabled linux to play multiplayer and it is fully functional!
The game frequently completely freezes for multiple seconds. I've had a full system crash happen once so far in 5 hours of playtime as well as some game crashes.
When the game is able to run properly it actually runs a decent bit better than it does on Windows but the stability issues are really unacceptable. I've personally just been dealing with them and playing anyway though as it did only just launch with plenty of issues on Windows too. I've still been having fun but it's certainly frustrating even so.
Broken and unplayable
I started with trying experimental and went all the way down to Proton 5.13-6. Farthest I got was the main menu and then it crashed when I clicked "offline game". Otherwise, I got an initial loading screen and then got a TV color test image and couldn't go any farther. Note this was using the demo version of the game.
